Speech Recognition is a new technology which shows
great promise for many people with and without disabilities. Speech
recognition programs have improved sufficiently that speech input for
controlling computers as well as creating written document quickly and easily
has become a very real possibility. Students as young as 9 or 10 years
of age with reading skills of at least a 3rd grade level and consistent speech
output can be using their voices to product written work.
Both children and adults can become extremely
effective and improve speed and accuracy of 'typing' using speech
input.
We have developed an Online Curriculum and
Assessment
for Speech Recognition on our Custom Typing web site.
Each user can log-in and access the curriculum
and assessment forms
as part of the user log-in. (You need to have a customtyping account
to do this).
All information entered in these forms will be
stored indefinitely. Information can be updated or changed, and once the
'Save changes' button is pressed, information will be stored in the
forms. These forms can then be printed out as a document providing
information about the speech recognition training program.
