Fewer key strokes and lists of words = increased typing speed and better spelling / grammar

Word prediction enables you to insert entire items — such as dates, addresses, names and phrases — when you type a few identifying characters.  Word prediction programs have grown and expanded remarkably over the past few years, offering many more features now.  

Word prediction incorporates the following features and functions:  (please note that this is an overall description of the individual features of word prediction found in many programs.  Not all programs offer all features.)

  • Alphabetic word or phrase prediction - predict and show words / phrases based on the letter/s you type
  • Auto Completion - complete a word or phrase with the hit of a hot-key
  • Spelling assist - lists of thousands of correctly spelled words to choose from
  • Phonetic Word Prediction - even if the user is unsure of how to spell a word correctly, word lists will include words that may have similar spelling or may include commonly misspelled words
  • Predict next word - predict the next possible word in the sentence based on user's previous writing, common phrases and grammatical correctness
  • Homonym assistance - assisting with selections of correct spelling for words that sound alike (e.g. two-to-too,  bee-be, weigh-way )
  • Grammar assistance - predicting and showing words most likely to be used based on grammar
  • Automatic spelling, punctuation and capitalization
  • Speech output / reading text out loud

Word prediction can be a significant influence in helping you increase your typing speed, especially if you are a slower typist.  Faster typists may benefit more from using a combination of word prediction, abbreviation expansion and macros.  See practical suggestions on using combinations of features from these three functions to increase your speed of computer use and overall productivity,

Simply start typing a word, and when you see the correct word appear in the selection box, press the 'Complete' key (example - Control key, space bar etc.)

Aurora Prediction works alongside most applications.  Itpredicts the word you are trying to type.  It will also predict words which may have been incorrectly spelled, valuable for people with spelling problems.  As you are typing a word, possible words appear in the Aurora window.  Select the word you want by hitting the corresponding number in the list.
