The tiger is a magnificent, sleek and powerful animal, with very distinct, beautiful striped markings.
Adult tigers spend most of the time on their own, but a tigress stays with her cubs for about 2-3 years until they can fend for themselves. Most tigers are tawny brown color with dark brown stripes, and underneath on their stomachs they are a whitish color.
The White Tiger is rare and exceptionally beautiful. Their coats are white and they have dark brown or reddish brown stripes. Tiger cubs are born blind and are very small, weighing only about 2 - 3 lb. They live on their mother's milk for 6-8 weeks, then she starts taking them to kills she has made so they can learn to feed. They begin to learn to find their own food at about 18 months of age. |
